New Critters in the Menagerie

I’ve also added a couple of new photos to the animals collection on the website.

kookaburras Australian birds

Here’s looking at you.

The Kookaburra is the largest species of Kingfisher, and aside from fish it eats snakes, lizards, baby birds, and shared lunches. They’re fascinating birds.

turtles, reptiles, animals,

Riches.

This turtle was at Taronga Zoo in Sydney. Many people have cast their wishes into this pond. My wish is that we see the natural world as the greatest richness, rather than money.

New Black and White photos on SFP

I’ve added a couple of new Black and White shots to the website.
I’ve been rather slack of late, I will admit it, though I’ve had reasons to be distracted.
Still, here’s a couple:

Herald of the Apocolypse

Well, it seemed like a good title, and it is nearly the end of the world isn’t it 😀 But I think that the title suits this fishy fountain shot, somehow.

Bark Textures

I don’t think I need to explain this title. The patterns form a mesmerizing dreamscape – I can follow those lines for ages!

Mesopotamian Eye Idols at the Nicholson Museum, Sydney University.
I’ve always been fascinated by ancient cultures and their ways. Once, this was the norm.

Sydney Observatory

Sydney Observatory, originally uploaded by smallfox2.

I once looked at the moon through this telescope, the original Sydney Observatory. It was a cloudy night, but then the clouds parted and we could see the craters and other features. It is best viewed when half full, when the shadows can highlight the features.

Twin towers of empire

Twin towers of empire, originally uploaded by smallfox2.

Whatever you think of empires or the British Empire, they certainly go to interesting places.
This is in Sydney, Australia.
Empires do appallingly exploitative things, yet they also bring the world closer together at the same time and allow for the exchange of thoughts, ideas, cultures.
