Wollemi Pine

Wollemi Pine, originally uploaded by smallfox2.

Long thought extinct (most recent fossils date back 70 million years), this plant was accidently rediscover in the Wollemi National Park in New South Wales. Thirty two trees (I think) were found, and found to be geneticly identical. On the brink of extinction, these trees have now been cloned and this example is in the Royal Botanic Gardens, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.
